Key milestones involved in each community transition
In the last 12 months we've...
Building sustainable careers with community partners
We continue to strengthen our partnerships with Regional Service Providers (RSPs) - Kimberley Regional Service Provider (KRSP), Pilbara Meta Maya Services (PMM) and Ngaanyatjarra Services (NgS) - who employ and train community members across trades, administration, and Aboriginal Essential Service Officer (AESO) roles.
In the past year, these partnerships have delivered:
-
46% Aboriginal workforce participation (KRSP) with long-term, sustainable employment on Country.
-
Local training initiatives, including reliability and renewable asset maintenance programs linked to the Blackstone Hybrid Energy Project.
-
Collaborative projects like the Balgo fencing upgrade, where community members worked alongside contractors, gaining hands-on skills and leading future project stages.
Working with RSPs and training providers, including North Metropolitan TAFE, we’re creating new pathways for Aboriginal employment, upskilling, and participation in the clean energy transition across remote WA.

Community engagement
Our Remote Community Engagement Strategy guides how Horizon Power undertakes meaningful engagement with 117 Aboriginal communities which are transitioning power services.
Horizon Power acknowledges the Traditional Custodians throughout Western Australia and their continuing connection to the land, waters and community. We pay our respects to all members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and their cultures; and to Elders past, present and emerging.
We recognise and appreciate a continued connection through stories, traditions and living cultures and commit to building a brighter future together. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are advised that this presentation may contain images, names or voices of deceased people.
